As most of you know, the Laurel Ridge Community Road Fund is funded entirely through annual contributions from Laurel Ridge property owners. These contributions are the only source of funding for maintaining the roads that allow you, your guests, your service providers, and first responders to reach your property. In short, the condition of our roads depends directly on homeowner participation, making your contribution essential.
Over the past two-plus years, your Road Fund volunteers have made real, measurable progress in maintaining and improving Laurel Ridge roads:
- Greater transparency and fairness. Clearer operations and consistent attention to all roads on the mountain support our aim that no neighbors are left behind.
- Noticeable improvements in road conditions. Regular maintenance, improved drainage, ditch clearing, and asphalt patching have resulted in steady, year-after-year gains.
- Increased participation. Many neighbors report the roads are in the best shape they’ve been in years. We’ve also welcomed back a few formerly dissatisfied contributors, bringing participation to 76% in 2025.
This awesome progress matters — but there is still a long way to go. Our roads continue to require major work and upkeep, and under-participation means that some neighbors bear more than their fair share of the cost. A small number of non-contributing owners continue to use — and in some cases profit from — roads funded by their neighbors. We ALL need to do our part.
The Road Fund is managed by a small but dedicated group of volunteers (a.k.a, your Road Crew), including Bruce Burn and Vance McMillan as Road Maintenance Coordinators, Anna Alfano handling Communications, and Brian Robboy as Finance and IT Nerd. Bruce and Vance’s long-term Laurel Ridge road expertise is invaluable in evaluating maintenance priorities and coordinating with Marek Bass, our road maintenance contractor.
Marek Bass Construction remains our vendor of choice in 2026 for ongoing periodic maintenance on our roads. Since engaging MBC in 2024, we have made significant, measurable progress in maintaining and improving Laurel Ridge roads. This progress matters — but we still have a long way to go. To sustain this momentum, we need contributions from every household. The suggested minimum contribution for 2026 is $500. Split payment options are available, and we are evaluating additional electronic payment methods to make contributing easier.
These roads allow you and your guests to enjoy your cabins — please help us maintain them.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community moving forward.
